I love Mantis.
Guardians 2 has a few of my favorite moments of the Guardians trilogy, but it is my least favorite of the three. The villain is one of the least compelling of the MCU, despite being well-acted, and the plot is a little all over the place.

Some good, some bad, some laughable.
Visual effects aren’t too bad. For a limited budget, they did OK.
Parè reminds me of Tim Allen in Galaxy Quest before he realizes that the space ship is real. “Hit ‘em with the red laser, and then the blue lasers, where’s my limo!”. Everyone else is giving all they had, even if that wasn’t that much.
Costuming was ridiculous! Looked like leftovers from a 1980s Italian post apocalypse movie.
If I watched this on mute, I think I could verbally fill in the dialogue for more than half of it. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it is.
This is my favorite live action kids movie. (I might have also said that in a review of Little Giants. It's a tie.) I own it on bluray, because DVD just wasn't high enough quality.

Guardians of the Galaxy shouldn't work as well as it does, mostly because one of the characters is a tree voiced by Vin Diesel. That doesn't stop it from being one of the funniest and most quotable comedies of the last decade. It is one of my favorite installments of the MCU, and it is also one that can stand alone just as well.

Ghost World would be April Ludgate's favorite movie, and Daria would be Enid's favorite tv show.
Thora Birch, ScarJo, and Steve Buscemi all give great performances, but overall it's a little too mean spirited for this to be a favorite of mine. I want Steve Buscemi to be happy and prosperous always.
Kristen Dunst's 1999 run of Virgin Suicides into Drop Dead Gorgeous into Dick cemented her as one of my all-time faves.
This is a perfect teenage dark comedy. It gets bonus points for also being a mockumentary. It gets even more bonus points for being a teen movie that has no central love story. It has earned its cult status.

Obviously I don't think this will be a five star movie for everyone, but it has been a five star movie for me for almost 20 years, and it shows no sign of stopping.
The only problem is that it's hard to believe Brittany Snow would be universally ignored and invisible in a high school, but this is a frequent problem in media, like when they tried to make us think Lizzie Maguire wouldn't be popular.

A little somber, but the guy can still deliver.
She's The Man is everything it needs to be as a 2000's teen comedy. It isn't especially believable, but it's funny even after almost two decades.
I want to say they don't make teen comedies like this anymore, but maybe they do and I just don't know about it because I'm 38. I feel like they probably don't though.
I can't believe a movie costarring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum is one of my comfort comedies, but this never gets old. Also how adorable is Brie Larson?!
