Believe it or not, a 1st time watch!
Good little monster movie. Great sound design and some adequately gross visuals. (Bit of a head scratching solution though.)

Started out feeling like a low-rent “Event Horizon”, then goes into a weird “Arrival” thing, and then it gets weird.
You can ask me what I thought of it, but I’m honestly not sure.

Sure, my timeline is 99% horror, but The Bodyguard is a great film. Superb performances by both Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, a good plot, and a great ending makes this is a solid yes.

A little side story: I was living on Long Island when this film was released in 1992. Years ago, I would read Newsday's film section (about new releases and reviews). Newsday gave The Bodyguard 2 out of 4 stars, but Army of Darkness received 3 out of 4 (when it was released - Also one of my favorite films ever). To this day, when I talk about films with my parents and they ask about the reviews, I say, "Just remember: Newsday gave The Bodyguard three stars and Army of Darkness four."

A pre-Doctor Who Tom Baker, a post-Wild, Wild, West Micheal Dunn and Donald Pleasance too!
Not a bad flick, but the creepiness of the plot is let down by the final creature who would have looked right at home being fought by Baker’s Doctor.

A lot of fun revisiting this one. I have not seen it in decades!
Not the most original story, but the acting is fantastic. Quaid and Gossett Jr. put everything into their performances and helps this rise above what is effectively a generic sci-fi film.

Not a very exciting action film and not a very interesting drama. Definition of mediocre.
No real surprises. You push play with low expectations and you get exactly that.

Tries way too hard to be everything all at once.
DC attempting to artificially duplicate what Marvel managed to do naturally early in its superhero movies.
Just comes across as feeling very forced.

Gave this a second (or third?) watch. A little better this time around, thanks to watching Dead Meat.

There is a phenomenal short film stuck in this feature length mess. Chop out 30 minutes, maybe spruce up a little of the dialog, and you’d have something I would absolutely love!

This one surprised me. The title is HORRIBLE, and really leads one to think this is going to be just another crappy alien invasion flick.
What it is, is surprisingly suspenseful and takes an angle or two that I had not seen before.
Well worth checking out!
