I've been brushing this film off for a long time. At first, the concept didn't appeal to me, and I laughed it off as I expected it to land in the final pages of Tubi's horror library... until today. Thanks a lot, Netflix.

Browsing through Netflix, this film was front and center (trending), so I said, "Sure, why not." I was expecting a terrible film with no plot, terrible dialog, and an even more terrible closing. To be honest, there were plenty of pain points throughout, but it was not terrible.

I can give a synopsis here of the entire film (I won't), but I have to share that many of the steps that these characters take in trying to secure their lives were creative, and I have to give credit to the director(s) and (writer(s) for developing ways that the characters can possibly survive various scenarios.

My one big complaint: The priest or holy person. Why? Were there no serious actors available? Did no one say, "Hey, maybe he shouldn't be a comedian?"

Overall, I gave this film a 3 out of 5 rating. If you see it, add it to your queue. It's a fast watch, even if it's in the background.

Yes, it was done way too cheap for what it tried to accomplish, but I will always enjoy this movie.
Terrific practical effects despite the low budget, (many built by a young James Cameron), a great score by freshman composer, James Horner, and an eclectic but fun cast!
The Blu-ray looks great too!

Well, I’ll admit it subverts SOME expectations. Unfortunately none of those expectations were that it’d be really good. While it certainly isn’t the worst movie of this ilk, it suffers from needless melodrama and too low a budget for anything more than cartoon dinosaurs.

Well, that was 'special'. Small Montana town attacked by cartoon dinosaurs and only the former bronco riding town hero with a checkered past can save them! (Meanwhile, Eric Roberts cashes a paycheck)

Ah, Herschell Gordon Lewis. The man who when told he couldn’t make a grosser or worse film than ‘Blood Feast’ said, “Hold my beer!” (And someone held that beer for the next decade)
