Seven samurai is easily a magnum opus of cinema.
Its characters are amazing and each get a moment to shine.
Toshiro mifune's character is easily my favorite character.
His introduction Is amazing as it sets up his character being much more then what he seems.
He and 2 others of the titular seven samurais also provide much needed comedy to allot of scenes which is another amazing thing about this film, it excellently knows how and when to be funny and serious.The village is easily sympathetic, no one wants to be the lowest on the social and power structure, it's implied threwout the film that being a farmer in old time Japan Is the worst thing ever and they easily show that very well.
The village people are cowardly and weak which also makes sense since they regularly get robbed and have no fighting skills or anything.
They did have weapons and samurai Armour but in context it makes sense why they didn't use it up until that point.The antagonists are not multi layered but they are a good way of showing how whom gets power will exploit it to scare and Rob the weak. Woman. Money. Food.
The cinematography is amazing, the film looks better and better the longer it goes on. Every frame becomes a masterpiece.Every actor, every line and every performance delivered is amazing and layered.
Its truly a miracle this film even got made and an even bigger miracle to witness on the big screen.

So much to like and so much dogshit in one film.
Genuinely a difficult film to review.
The cast is all over the place aswell as the performances.
Ben Affleck and Amy Addams are somewhat good but what ruins ben Affleck as batman for me is that fuck ass voice modifier. Its stupid and not in a comic book way.
It just hurts to listen to.
Speaking about things that hurt to listen to, jessie eisenberg as lex luthor everybody.The writing of his character is actually somewhat good but that fuck ass performance ruins everything.
He's not menacing or anything, it just brings every scene with him down.
It's like watching the worst clown ever do an act on TV.
I can say more like how the film still has issues that originated in man of steel but man.....its not worth it, to type in every good and bad thing because I would be here for a long time.
Tbh it is a movie you can have endless discussions about no matter if you like it or not.One last thing I wanna mention is the cinematography....like holy shit wdym what I'm seeing is a movie?
How did they manage to do this with Larry song as the fucking cinematographer??? Allot of his work is decent to abysmal with the exception of this one.
there is allot going against this film but i can't help but kinda like it.
kevin spacey as lex luthor is excellent and i like brandon routh as superman. the rest of the cast is oke. not terrible but not amazing.
i liked that olsen and perry white got a bit more screentime then the 4 movies before this.
the cinematography is fine but it was really close to looking actually good.
the score is also good but like the rest of the film, it sticks to much to the christopher reeve timeline and sense of wonder to the point it doesn't have much of its own identity.
but despite all that, i think its almost good.
easily the worst superman film
There is allot to unpack in this film.
I think the cast is great(with some weird line delivery sometimes)My main complaint with most of superman's cinematic catalog is that other then lois lane, his staple cast like Jimmy olsen don't get much screentime, even in the reeve films.
And i liked that they had allot of presence here.
Mr.terrific, guy Gardner, hawk girl and metamorpho are just sidecharacters yet they give them defining personalities which I liked.Idk how I feel about Bradley cooper as jor el tho, idk but I don't think he looks like how I would see him.
David corenswet is great as superman.This is by far gunn's weakest directorial effort tbh.
I think the camera movements in allot of action scenes are dynamic and great but the cinematography is better then that of most marvel films but it still doesn't really look great.
There are definitly some scenes that look fantastic but most of the movie looks off.
And like I mentioned, some weird line delivery.I didn't hate the comedy in this film.
Superman and his world can be comedic. I think sometimes it doesn't always land tho.
I think superman/Clark himself is a pretty good character and has great chemistry with lois.
Lex luthor is a great villain.
Idk man, I really loved the film.
It's what superman needed at this point in time.
I do think there is allot of improvement to be made but for now, this is a pretty good start to this new universe.Also peacemakers cameo was funny as shit and what do you mean supergirl was just drunk and partying somewhere else lol?
The problem with everything comedic going around is that its not funny and without it, nothing of substance is going on with any character.
I still like christopher reeve as superman but he can't save this film from being dogshit I'm afraid.
the scariest film i've ever seen.
it sense of loneliness and using that as a tool to not only scare its characters but the audience aswell. allot of horror films gradually kill off its characters and mostly they are just there for meat fodder but in this film it has a purpose.the more little its cast gets, the more the lonelines and isolation creeps in as not just the main characters but the places, enviroments get emptier and emptier.
its definitly one of the best horror movies of the 21st century.
kiyoshi kurosawa's serpent's path is nothing short of incredible.
the first half of the film is a revenge thriller.
in the second half its a bleak and nihilistic breakdown of the worst people getting at eachother. while no supernatural force is in this film, you can stil feel that presence of evil lurking around.
how the movie uses gun violence and violence ingeneral is pretty awesome aswell. where allot of modern films have gun violence with no real weight to it, serpents path is the complete opposite.
every gunshot, every drop of blood or action feels like it tells something on its own.
its heavy, its loud but also brutal.
Christopher nolan is crying, bursting into a fit of rage knowing all of his film making techniques and imax slop is all in vain because even after all that, the phineas and ferb duology is better then most of his filmography.

i do not care for the first film and a big reason as to why is the characters and story.
the first film was pretty fun, i liked val kilmer and tom cruise but other then that its kinda just oke.
maverick is that but without kilmer(even tho he's in 1 scene)
i do not really care for the new pilots, glen powel is a weaker version of val kilmer's character in the first film....without any arc.
miles teller feels like a less experienced young maverick.....but without good arc.
this is all to say, it has to many characters and all of those characters aren't compelling.
the cinematography is pretty good tho...ig.

imo the kills are more brutal then in the last 3 films which is kino but the characters they kill off are blank slates at best.
The visuals besides the awful green screen are good overall but that doesn't make it good.
The regular family are like me, they have no purpose other then to exist.
They could have been written out of this film and it would better for it.
Xavier is obnoxious and he is suppose to be but if I kill myself, that does not mean I did a great job
