It's <I>The Menu</i> for music, not food.
As usual, John Malkovich delivers a creepy performance, parallel to his acting skills seen in <I>In the Line of Fire</i> and <I>Being John Malkovich</i>. Ayo Edebiri was underutilized, but that was the point of her role :to be like an outsider who doesn't belong, yet brings it altogether to reflect upon what she experiences.
Great premise and acting, especially as the tension builds and for what we eventually see unfold. I think the ending could've gone in a different direction to really showcase the "reach", but it was still powerful.
Once again, A24 delivers, and now we all scream "Encore!"

Batman Begins turning 20 this year is giving me an existential crisis.
The Jan to Dark Knight's Marcia, even though it's not the middle child. Very solid origin story, but will forever be in the Dark Knight's shadow.

I'm not an expert on robots in film, but the ones in Iron Giant and Wild Robot look quite a bit like this one... Maybe there are only so many robot designs.
Similar to Nausicaä, the art is very pretty, and the general vibe is super relaxing. I fell asleep again, so it took me a few sessions to get through the whole thing. I guess I find the Miyazaki universe calming. They're like lullabies on film.
The overall plot didn't really hook me. I think I just prefer scoundrels, because all of my favorite parts were Dola and the pirates. "All good pirates listen to their mom!" I also liked the robot and Muska's little tie. Sheeta and Pazu were fine, but they're the least interesting part. Wholesome teens in the middle of a caper?!
I have no clue what genre this was trying to be. Maybe it could have worked as a crime/thriller, but it kept dipping its toes in being a rom-com, except without any romantic chemistry and without any jokes.
This is quintessential Kyle Mooney: endearing, awkward, wholesome, nostalgic, and probably not for everyone. I love it so much. Bonus points for having Jorge Lendeborg, who I *love* in Spider-Man during the Midtown High News segments.
This must be my 3rd or 4th time watching since we reviewed it on Orphaned Entertainment.
My opinion has not changed, it is one the greatest films I’ve seen. Expertly written and superbly acted. Charles Boyer was amazing!
Someone finally executed the perfect Michael/Mike Myers bit.
Baby Driver is really good, despite Kevin Spacey and Ansel Elgort. If they were recast, it would be even better. Allegations aside, I don't find Ansel Elgort especially charismatic or charming, and when he's walking down the street pretending to blow a trumpet, it would be more fun if he *was* charismatic and charming.
Hard to say anything bad about this one.

Honestly, the most unbelievable thing is the “whole world watching” filling up Times Square, etc.. While I do think the world’s attention would be directed at the mission, I think they’d watch in the comfort of their homes or on their phones.

Camp Nowhere is a quintessential 90s kids hijinks movie. I can only assume the low average score is from people watching it for the first time as adults, people who hate kids and/or the 90s, and people who rate based on likelihood to win awards (and they don't include the Kids Choice Awards). The Doc and Biff reunion should lock it in at three stars minimum.
I liked the opening and closing credits because my husband sang along. I didn't like anything else.
James Van der Beek leaves Dawson’s Creek for a lake near a Canadian fishing village suffering from giant squid problems.
Pretty typical and formulaic. Filmmakers wisely didn’t show the squid too much, leaving the actions and reactions of the characters, for better or worse, to tell the story. A few shots of the tentacles looked pretty good, but there were just as many that looked like rubber on a string.
