apparantely the original japanese version with english subtitles is very hard to find so i sadly had to watch the dub which didn't help as overall this is a mid tier godzilla film.
spacegodzilla is cool and his design is great, the fights with him and godzilla are cool to watch but other then that there isn't much.
imo the dub probably made it worse, i am of the opinion that dubs, live action and animation is slightly anti art. only slightly because some people do need them but outside of that context its completely fucking useless and anti art.(watch my feature films

authoritarianism is a word i only learned of today because of this film yet i understood it very deeply.
authoritarianism disguised as communism. the confession is a fascinating political drama that no so much is a courtroom drama but a drama about the manipulation of the court outcome.
i don't know a whole lot about communism so i am maybe missing crucial details yet the film portrays our lead with not neccesarily 100% sympathy but curiousity about the innocent and the authorital need for confession, they keep pushing and pushing until they get their way.i do know that commmunism has an emphasis on freedom yet non is given.

first of all jean rollin is a man and he's dead so we or at least i don't know what he thinks of the subjects he displays here because if we know something about directors, its that sometime they may not recognize their work.
but, the nude vampire is a gothic and surrealist piece of 70s horror.
filled with endless halls and castles emptier then my stomach.
those castles are largely seems to be inspired from medieval times which signifies that while from the outside, humanity has changed yet inside we have not especially when it comes to lust and the cults surrounding it. but there is hope, the film prospers in the new generation, it believes that the next generation can better themselves.
now if we actually did, thats to be discussed but there is a clear conversation here about the wealthy industrialists who gleefully take pride in participating in being something alien, especially when it comes to the sexualization of women.there is one specific scene of a man painting a nude black women, the camera comes closer and closer, it scans the womans body but i wouldn't say because of lust but admiration.
the central female figure is more of an macguffin until the end of the film where she's finally free, loose from the grasp of society and ready to roam the beaches.jean rollin's aesthetic and overall nature is fascinating to watch as he takes pride in what some directors often stray away from and thats the human body and how we as a planet use people and their respective bodies. his surrealist direction is something far quieter then someone like lynch as air and the noises inside fill the scenes.

Secretly we didn't need a new scary movie to bring back comedies, we needed a pizza movie.
Say what you will about this film but scary movie 6 will definitely not use cinema as a visual language to use certain jokes that are in this film.
Gaten, sean and lulu are great and the film isn't deep or anything, its just a stoner comedy yet it is funny.
Its story does get cliché with one part but besides that its fun as hell.

A film thats been sitting in my watchlist for a long time.
Probably the best film i've seen maybe this year. Its a film thats able to have its camera witness the way we lecture our youth.
What builds characters? In the eyes of many but probably a lot in a country like iran, its a hard beating and yelling. We also let children work hard and tell them to grow up yet we don't take them seriously which in of itself is contradicting.(Watch my feature film https://boxd.it/cQ1mBp )
maybe if we'd kill humanity, then the world would get peace.
its an interesting thought, do we deserve to be wiped from existence?
we wouldn't be the first species but maybe if we did all get killed, the world would find some sort of peace and the fact it will never have that is tragic. godzilla essentially is nature, it is earth in a metaphorical sense and in a sense this film and godzilla ingeneral has a lot in common with the ideology of frankenstein or at least the 1930s film.we as a species don't let him rest, we want to get rid of him yet we continue to bother him creating an endless cycle of distruction.
we have to show who is top dog, sacrifices or not. we would take that chance because we can't fathom being lower in the food chance but in the end we have to come to terms that there are other beings on this planet and we have to coexist. also baby godzilla is finally a good character.(watch my feature film https://boxd.it/cQ1mBp )
godzilla vs mothra isn't special in the grand scheme of things yet its still fun as our queen mothra is up against godzilla once again.
there is some enviromentalism here but its not as strong(all be it, not bad) as godzilla vs hedorah.(watch my feature film https://boxd.it/cQ1mBp )
why is kim roi-ha not famous like sang kong-ho?
idk but his physicality, his face.....it just feels made for movies.
while the film can sometimes feel drawn out and to long, its three leads change, evolve and devolve as the film progresses.
their bond changes, twists and eventually breaks as its scattered on the ground. a much better film about the vietnam war then something like deer hunter as john woo only uses it as a backdrop yet tells much more with it as the vietnam war visibly changes these character and therefore showing how people change within that without it being a cliché. john woo's action is fantastic obviously, he gives this all a brotherhood feel that eventually breaks.

what do we as a collective become once everything becomes modern?playtime doesn't directly asks this qeustion yet it does.
its camera is always the observer, we do follow characters but we and the camera are never part of their life, we are the watchers of a place that is as sleek as it is soulles. we're already gravitating towards conformity with clothes, shoes and entertainment, in the year 2026, films have become largely a popularity contest where directors like nolan and pta are mostly held at a high position. you like something else? well you aren't part of the larger conversation.
maybe it is a reach but there is a basis of conformity within entertainment and art. but also our homes and clothes have become increasingely similaire either due to fear or harrasment because of others.(watch my feature film https://boxd.it/cQ1mBp )
