Serious crime drama, until the film LEAPS off the rails, and of course there is a gorilla… This was insane!

I had to break this into three watching sessions, and I never saw the theatrical cut, or whatever we are calling the not-Snyder cut. I guess I watched this like a weirdly edited miniseries.
Overall the DCEU isn't for me. It's so dark and gloomy and brooding. I do like the Superman parts of this, and I don't mind Batfleck. I lose interest during a lot of the in-between sections.
It's interesting to watch this now that Taylor Swift has recovered from this 'valley' and her current peak is even higher than it was prior to this.
Either way, it still provides a peek behind the scenes, and she shows vulnerability in talking about her eating disorder, her mother's cancer, her disappointment in Reputation's Grammy snubs, and other topics. Some of the more fun parts are watching her making Lover and seeing parts of the song-writing process.
I've read over a hundred BSC books, closer to 200 if we count the Little Sister spinoff, and I was 10 when this came out. It was easily a 5 star movie for me for many years. Almost two decades later, the nostalgia grip has loosened a bit, and it is settling at 3.5 stars. If Luca wasn't so okay with Stacey being "14 next year", maybe it could have lingered at 4 stars. Maybe.
Reputation is the best Taylor album for an arena concert.
I knew very little about Val Kilmer prior to watching this, but I had just watched STILL about Michael J Fox, so I was keeping the same vibe. This was interesting and included a lot of home video footage. It showed a lot of layers to Val Kilmer as a person, beyond his Hollywood reputation. I think people who are more familiar with Val Kilmer would love it.
I love Nicholas Hoult but this was overall pretty forgettable. There are a decent amount of laughs but I was entirely uninvested in the plot. Maybe What We Do in the Shadows set the bar too high for vampire comedies.
A worthy follow-up to Into the Spider-Verse, but I prefer the first in terms of character development and laughs. Mostly though, I didn't realize it was going to be a literal cliffhanger. You have to warn people when you're going to do that by calling it "Part 1" or something!
I wasn't expecting this to be as incredible as it is. I love the visuals, the characters, the bits and gags, the music, the casting. It deserves all the hype.
As with SUSPIRIA, Argento creates a beautiful world in which the characters get to experience their horrors, but I think there is a lot more style than substance. The plot seems to take a back seat to colored lights, surreal architecture, and outlandish music.
I wanted to love Cocaine Bear because it's such a wild true story and also because of Keri Russell. It is a decent one-time watch, but weirdly I think it should have gone bigger. If you're going to tell such an over the top story, you might as well go over the top with every aspect.

Thanks to Shudder, I was able to attend the New York premiere for writer and director Ted Geoghegan’s <b><i>Brooklyn 45 </i></b>ahead of its streaming debut in mid-June 2023.Before I dive into the film, the audience was filled with familiar faces from both the film and other horror favorites, as well as industry folks to bump elbows with.
The film, which takes place post-World War II, immediately sets the tone — a somber evening at a common friend’s Park Slope home to comfort a friend after his wife’s death. Insults and drinks are shared, but then we immediately shift into mystery-mode when the talk of a séance is discussed. Once started, the quick laughing matter soon turns into a what-the-fuck-just-happened moment, ultimately leading to the death of a main character who orchestrated most of the film’s plot. The rest of the attendees scramble to determine how to end the séance while also trying to expose the secrets of those there, and how they will eventually escape from the home.
There was a lot of quick character development at the beginning, which helped guide acts two and three. Friendships are broken, lies exposed, tension elevated, and ultimate sacrifices made. Each actor was a perfect fit for their respective roles.
While I did enjoy <i>Brooklyn 45</i> and laughed multiple times throughout, I found it to be less horror and more suspense (and supernatural), but it will definitely entertain all audiences.
